I hope everyone had a fun-filled, action-packed Fourth of July weekend. Ours was definitely action-packed. We ate a lot, stayed up late, visited with friends and family, and even got in a trip down to Summerfest.
On the Fourth of July, we caught Wauwatosa's Parade and spent the evening at a friend's BBQ. We figured we'd make a game time decision on whether or not we would stay for fireworks. Callum turned out to be a champ, and we were out way past everyone's bedtime. He was up for the beginning of the fireworks, but ended up falling asleep on my lap about five minutes in. And, let me tell you, I've never enjoyed a fireworks show more. As we were sitting in our friends' yard watching the fireworks, with a fire blazing and my sweet boy sleeping on my lap, I was so perfectly happy.
The past few weeks have been some of the most difficult I've experienced as a parent. It has just been tantrums galore and we're still navigating our way through dealing with me. So, Saturday night, with a sleeping boy on my lap, was just what I needed to be reminded about what a gift being a mom actually is.
Alright, that's enough vomit-inducing sweetness for one day.
A quick Callum sleep update for you: We're back in business! As I predicted, Callum just decided to become a good sleeper again. Friday night, as I was putting him to sleep and waiting for a melt down, it just didn't happen. Then, for the icing on the cake, he gloriously slept through the night. We're all much happier because of it.
I call this series: "We tried."
