BBQs and Swimming Pools

Hey there, Monday.

And, August!

How is it August already? August is totally the Sunday of summer. If you haven't been already, it is officially time to soak in as much summer as possible. That's exactly what we did this weekend. It was a hot one, and I loved every minute of it.

We spent Friday evening outside, eating dinner and hanging out with our neighbors. It was the perfect relaxing evening after a busy, busy week. No one in our house made it up past 8:30. That's how exhausted everyone was.

Saturday morning, Callum had swim class, and then we spent the rest of the morning cleaning and prepping for a little reunion we were hosting that afternoon for a group of Matt's college friends. Every summer, this group gets together and it is always a good time.

Callum had a blast! He officially understands what a party is now and he gets so excited when we tell him we're going to a party or having a party. He'll put his little hands in the air and yell, "Party!! Woohoo!!!" It is amazing. I think he knows a party means lots of kids to run around with, unlimited amounts of junk to eat, and a much later bed time. Party on, Cal.

Sunday morning was spent cleaning up the party and just hanging around the house. After everyone in the house took a nap, we decided to cool off with a trip to Hoyt swimming pool. Callum has gotten so much more comfortable in the water these past few months. He used to be so apprehensive about the pool, but now he's literally jumping off the side of  it (in to our arms, of course) and sticking his face in.

We love Hoyt so much! It has a huge low depth area with a play set. Callum loves being able to walk until the water is about at his chin. It also has a nice sand area with a ton of toys, which is perfect for when you need a quick break from the water. After a couple hours of swimming, sand, and a Choco Taco, we were spent and ready to call it a day.

Another great summer weekend in the books! Hope yours was just as great. Here's to a good week!
